Having now purchased your ethanol burner box you will be keen to get it going.

In the box you will have these instructions the burner box and a tool for operating the flap.

Lets talk about the fuel. The fuel you will use is ethanol, ethanol has another name methylated sprits, yes meth’s is 95%-97% ethanol. You can purchase this fuel from a number of places and the price can be as muchas$14 a litre. I have found that not all ethanol is made equal, it’s alcohol and can be made from different base ingredients, corn, sugar cane even potatoes (vodka). This in turn can affect the purity of the burn. We sell a high grade ethanol on the website which is a very pure blend, but a good alternative would be Diggers meth’s form Bunning. Also try local cleaning supply companies. We know of one company in the Illawarra Hounds which refills a 20 litre containers for $2.90/L, about 10% saving on the Bunning’s price!

Once you purchased the fuel please take care, read the instructions. This is a flammable liquid, keep the appropriate fire extinguisher handy. This not meant to alarm but is a recommendation.

You will notice the burner contains a wick this help improve flame height and burn, it can be removed for a lesser flame effect (before adding the fuel).

Fill the burner box to the MAX level inside, you can half fill the unit but it may cause a load roar when it lights this is because there is vapours in a confined space inside the burner box which ignite and it’s this hot air rushing out that makes the noise.

Ensure that the burner box is away from any flammable surface and away from curtains and furnishing at least 2 metres from curtains and soft furnishings,1metre from other objects.

Light the burner box using a long lighter, the type you use for a BBQ.

Once a light it will take 20 minutes for the flame to reach the maximum height, the burn time will be between 6-8 hours and during that time you may need to vent the room by having a window or door ajar.

To turn off the fire use the tool provide and hook it into the flap, bring the flap to 12 O’clock and then with control force let it drop close this then should put the fire out. If not repeat.
